A group of philosophers and psychotherapists have set up a very interesting project at the University of Exeter to consider the uses of Stoic philosophy for our lives today (see the project’s blog: here). As part of this project, the organisors have proposed a ‘Stoic week’, starting this Monday. They’ve put together a programme of Stoic ‘spiritual exercises’ to be carried out throughout the course of the week, and they’re asking anybody interested to complete questionnaires so that they can establish an ‘evidence base’ for the effects of Stoicism as a practice in a modern setting.
(For any Warwick folks reading this, participating in Stoic week could serve as some unorthodox prep for Keith Ansell-Pearson’s course next term on philosophy as a way of life.)
